Autonomous Underwater Vehicles

Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) are an interesting research area in oceanic engineering. The AUV swings in ocean, lake and rivers, carry out expensive tasks which include seeking, surveying, supporting in offshore and onshore operations. The industrial application focuses in gas and oil exploration mainly in depth water. Other applications are relative to the military defense.
The figure above shows a classical torpedo-like AUV, it is the Dorado AUV from the Monterrey Bay Aquarium.
